Head up the northern branch of the Sukhumvit line of the BTS Skytrain network and you will reach Saphan Khwai. Just six stations from Siam, Saphan Khwai is becoming an increasingly sought-after place to live thanks to its plethora of conveniences. Translated from Thai as ‘Buffalo Bridge’, this former trading ground for Thailand’s much-loved working animal, today is feeding off neighbouring Ari’s hipster vibe.

the ultimate in convenience

Just one stop away on the BTS, Ari has cleverly mastered mixing modern day desires alongside traditional Thai culture. Here there are countless cafes, restaurants and shops geared towards the younger demographic, but all sat alongside popular street food haunts and markets. A pattern that has been emulated in Saphan Khwai putting the area in the sights of those wanting to enjoy a bit of it all.

Incredibly well connected by road or rail since the MRT at Chatuchak is just one stop away and the Airport Rail Line at Phaya Thai in four stops, Saphan Khwai is drawing in residents searching for the ultimate in convenience.

However, is it not just all about getting out and around since this corner of Bangkok has copious attractions adding to its charm. Shops, markets, bars, cafes and even co-working spaces can be found here breathing life into the area.

cheaper to rent and buy property

This corner of Bangkok can be split into a few different pockets. The main thoroughfare of Phahonyothin slices right through the centre with condominiums lining either side for those who want to live in the thick of it all.

To one side is Pradipat where sales prices reach THB 150,000 per square metre and rents anywhere between THB 500 to 600 per square metre. Just off Phahonyothin, Pradipat has a quieter persona similar to Soi Inthamara which sits on the other side. Here it is both cheaper to rent and buy property, but it does not mean that it is lacking in character since it is home to various renowned places to pick up a bite to eat and has a buzzing nightlife scene too.
