It was Singapore’s turn to celebrate their best developers and projects with the annual South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore) taking place on 24th November at the Island Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel ballroom. A total of 12 of the country’s most innovative developers came together for this year’s festivities.

City Developments Limited (CDL) was presented with the most prestigious honour in 2016 winning Best Developer (Singapore). Other winners included Qingjian Realty and M+S Pte Ltd who both took home a number of awards.

For CDL, the occasion was bittersweet. The developer dedicated their victory to their late deputy chairman Kwek Leng Joo, who served as the company’s inspiration. He was known as being the mastermind behind CDL’s attempts to provide consumers with quality, green and sustainable projects.

“Time and again CDL delivers. Their experience and consistency in upscale, residential property development is probably unmatched in the real estate scene in Singapore. And the company’s pioneering and continuing initiatives in its sustainability drive is a testament to its genuine concern for the larger world,” Singapore judging panel led by Mink Tan, chief designer and architect of MINKKE Architects Pte Ltd, explained.

With Singapore’s global reputation as a green and sustainable hub, CDL and M+S Pte Ltd were chosen for the inaugural Special Recognition in Sustainable Development accolade. CDL along with MCC Land and MCI Land were given Special Recognition in CSR as Singapore continues to be a model market for the entire region.

This year marked the sixth edition of the South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore) and 400 senior industry executives from around the region attended the event. Despite a slow year for new launches, Singapore is still widely recognised as the model for many emerging markets in the region, and there continues to be an emphasis placed on quality, sustainability and green building with many developers keeping these as top priorities.
