One of Phuket’s most popular hotels is under new ownership after HPL Hotels and Resorts bought Boathouse by Montara earlier this month. According to local media, the hotel is set to be rebranded as The Boathouse Phuket and will be operated under HPL Hotels & Resorts’ The Boutique Collection’ brand.
“The Boutique Collection brand is all about providing personalised service and making guests feel at home, adding Boathouse to the cluster will complement the portfolio,” Stephen Lau, Chairman of HPL Hotels & Resorts, explained to the Phuket News. “This take over reflects our commitments to developing our business in Thailand and elsewhere in the region.”
The Singapore-based hospitality company operates several other hotels including Casa del Mar Langkawi, Casa del Rio Melaka and The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands. The property is located near Kata Beach on Phuket’s west coast and first opened nearly 30 years ago as a restaurant. A hotel was eventually opened at the site and the property now has 27 rooms as well as 11 suites.
There is also a beach club, spa, sunset lounge, an award-winning wine cellar, a bar and the well-known Boathouse Wine & Grill restaurant at The Boathouse Phuket. Despite the change in ownership, the property will continue operating as usual during the rebranding process.
“Guests booked after the change in management can be assured that the terms and conditions of their reservations will remain unchanged. And our team looks forward to welcoming them,” Max Chin, General Manager of The Boathouse Phuket explains to the newspaper.
The Boathouse Phuket becomes the 12th property under the HPL Hotels & Resorts banner. Other brands under the watch of the Singapore-based hospitality management company include Concorde Hotels & Resorts, Hard Rock Hotels and Gili Lankanfushi in Maldives. The takeover officially took effect on 8 December.
