The Thailand Property Awards presented by Hansgrohe held its annual launch yesterday at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaphrasong Hotel. This year marks the 11th edition of the awards which honors the best in Thai real estate and design. The event continues to grow and 2016 will see the number of awards handed out on the night increase as well.
Best Residential Development (Krabi – Phang Nga) will recognize the best project is this burgeoning part of Thailand. Several notable developments including Krabi Boat Lagoon and a number of residential projects have already sprung up in the region while in Phang Nga, the Na Tai area has become popular among the developers. The competition for this award is expected to be high with several high-quality projects to be in contention.
“The tourism sector is playing an increasingly important role in driving the country’s economic growth,” Suphin Mechuchep, managing director of JLL Thailand and newly elected chairperson of the central panel of judges, said in a press release. “A decent chunk of tourist spending goes to retailers in various retail formats from street-side retail strips to modern shopping centers. Retail markets in key tourist destinations such as Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui, and Chiang Mai will benefit most from this trend.”
Thailand’s biggest and most respected industry awards honor the best in Bangkok and Phuket real estate as well as the country’s rapidly growing secondary markets of Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Khao Yai, Samui and the Eastern Seaboard. The tenth anniversary of the event was held last year and it was the biggest ceremony yet. SC Asset Corporation took home the most coveted award, Best Developer, and several other companies were also recognized on the night. Past winners of the Best Developer include Sansiri, Major Development and Raimon Land.
The nominations process for this year’s Thailand Property Awards has already begun with the nomination period open between now and 8th July. All successful entries will be supervised by BDO, one of the world’s largest accounting and auditing firms, and entry is free. The official shortlist will be revealed in late August.
