During a recent press event, Knight Frank Thailand along with Kasikorn Bank explained that the London property market is still a desirable place for Asian UHNW investors to put their money. Not only does it provide good returns according to Knight Frank’s newly released Wealth Report, but the city is also one of the top education locations for the children of Thai HNWIs.

“This report forecasts that Asia tops the absolute increase in the UHNW population of the world at a 66 percent increase; 80 percent of UHNWIs have also increased the demand for international education,” Phanom Kanjanathiemthao, managing director, Knight Frank Thailand said. “Moreover, London remains the most important city to the world’s UHNWIs as a centre of investment and a hub of education.”

London’s property market continues to trend upward and is brimming with investment potential since it features a secured financial system and good infrastructure. It is expected that London property will provide reasonable returns on investment, stable property price growth and good rental yields. It also enjoys being one of the world’s major economic and travel destinations.

“The trend shows that UHNWIs worldwide are eyeing investment alternatives, considering attractive property price with reasonable return in London’s property market,” Phanom added.

Another reason London continues to be a desirable investment destination for Thai HNWIs is that it is an international education hub. Many Thai HNWIs have interest in finding a London school or university for their child and make a property purchase simultaneously. Not only can their child use the property while in school, but the family can then rent it out or sell it after graduation.

“We hone in on opportunities to invest in real estate in England, especially in London,” Predee Daochai, president, Kasikorn Bank, stated. “Not only do the families benefit from the convenience of owning such properties while their children and grandchildren are studying in England, they will reap the long-term benefits of these investments.”
