Marriott International will open a total of 16 new resorts across 7 different brands in 10 Asia Pacific countries and territories this year including 2 additional luxury hotels in Thailand. The group currently has 130 upscale and luxury resorts in the Asia Pacific region and is focusing on this area due to a growing demand from Chinese travellers.
“This is an exciting year for Marriott International in the Asia Pacific region as we deliver innovative, new ways to cater to today’s and tomorrow’s travellers. Our new openings demonstrate our promise to be where our guests want to be and provide them with everything they need to relax, recharge or celebrate a special milestone,” says Peggy Fang Roe, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Asia Pacific, in a press release.
The company has been very active in Thailand and will conclude 2017 by opening a pair of new properties. The 1st of these is the Renaissance Pattaya Resort & Spa, which recently opened. It is located on a beachfront retreat and will help Marriott expand its reach in the country’s Eastern Seaboard region.
The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui is the 2nd property in Thailand to be opened by the company. The hotel has a design that reflects a modern interpretation of the island’s environment and uses natural materials such as ceramic and coconut. The hotel’s spa has holistic wellness treatments while there is also a fish-feeding experience that takes place in a temperate swim reef at The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui.
“Marriott International is proud to offer picture-perfect paradises for every occasion. We continue to cater to its ever-expanding customer base by introducing new brands, exciting destinations and unique experiences to its resorts portfolio,” says Paul Foskey, Chief Development Officer at Marriott International Asia Pacific.
