The Ascott LTD is going to open five new properties in Thailand over the next 18 months, reports local media. The company also has plans to launch a new brand as it hopes to appeal to younger guests.
The company hopes to open more than 30 properties around the world in 2017. The company already has a number of properties in Thailand and will continue to explore opportunities in the many regions and key cities of the country.
“As of the current plan, more properties are set to be opened in the next 18 months, with 4 properties already in the pipeline under the brands Citadines Jomtien Beach Pattaya, Citadines North Pattaya, Somerset Maison Asoke Bangkok, and Somerset Habourview Sri Racha,” says Jean Keijdener, Ascott’s Thailand General Manager, to the Nation.
The company’s first mixed-use housing development, Somerset Ekamai Bangkok, launched its first phase in 2016 and plans call for the entire property to be operating early this year. The property has 130 serviced apartments, 81 units for corporate lease and a multifunction conference centre with 51 community rooms.
Ascott reached its target of having 3,000 units in Thailand last year. The company currently has 18 properties in Bangkok, Pattaya and Sri Racha under its control. This includes the recently opened Metropole Bangkok. The property is Asia’s first luxury serviced residence under The Crest Collection by The Ascott Ltd. In addition to this, the company signed a management contract for The Park at Em District. That project will be an upscale serviced residence located on Sukhumvit Soi 24 near the Em District.
The Ascott group is hoping to launch a new brand sometime in the next two years as it looks to reach a younger customer base. The new brand will cater to long-stay guests, but will target young clients and new start-up business travellers in order to expand its clientele in the coming years.
