Country Group Development, a Thai real estate developer, will launch Capella Bangkok in 2018 after agreeing to partner with Capella Hotel Group, according to local media reports. Capella has been expanding in Asia recently and the Bangkok hotel will be the company’s latest foray into the market.
Capella Bangkok is part of an aggressive expansion plan that will see the brand open 3 distinct new hotels in Asia over the next 15 months, tells Nicholas Clayton, Capella Hotel Group Asia Chief Executive Officer, to The Nation. Capella Shanghai is set to open in the next few months while Capella Ubud in Bali will welcome guests for the 1st time later in 2017. Capella Bangkok will be the last to open when it begins operations in early 2018.
Clayton, Ben Taechaubol, CEO and Director of Country Group Development, and senior officials from both companies held a ceremony last week to officially launch the Capella Bangkok project. “We specifically selected Capella Hotel Group for this project in order to elevate the standard of bespoke luxury available to guests in Bangkok,” says Taechaubol.
Asia has become the most dynamic place in the world for tourism and the hospitality-management business continues to be more financially successful here than in other places of the world, adds the Country Group Development CEO.
The Bangkok Capella hotel will have a 101 guest suites along with a selection of river villas with views of the Chao Phraya River. The property will be part of the luxury residential and hotel development, The Chao Phraya Estate. The project is on the east bank of the river.
The project is Country Group Development’s largest project to date and is worth an estimated THB 32 billion. Capella Bangkok will sit next to Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok and Four Seasons Private Residences Bangkok when it is completed. The 2 Four Seasons developments won’t be finished until late 2018.
