One of the growing trends in Thailand’s real estate market is senior housing. The local population continues to age and a number of expats come to Thailand to retire as well. To help cater to this growing demographic, projects are being developed with features designed specifically for seniors.
A new project in Pattaya is one of the city’s first to be exclusively designed with elderly residents in mind, according to The Pattaya News. Rattana Village has a number of features to help make life easier for those who suffer from mobility issues and older people who have different lifestyle needs than the younger generation.
The project is located on the outskirts of the seaside city and is nearly 15 minutes away from the city centre by car. Built on a 9-rai land plot, phase 1 has 16 bungalows and is already completed. There is a second phase currently being constructed and it will add another 8 houses to Rattana Village once finished later this year.
The roads throughout the project are perfectly flat and the homes have a small lip in order to make it easily navigable for those in wheelchairs. In addition to this, lifts can be installed in the units upon request. A number of common area facilities including a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, remote entry gate for cars, and several security features can be found at the development. All of the project’s common areas were designed to be easily accessible for those in a wheelchair or suffering from mobility issues.
There are 3 different unit types available at Rattana Village ranging from 2- to 3-bedrooms. The developer has declined to place houses up for sale and will instead be renting them out individual, according to the newspaper. Those who wish to let a house at the project will need to sign a 2-year agreement.
