Those planning on creating a start-up business should consider doing so in Thailand. Bangkok is the best place to launch a start-up in Asia and the 7th best place globally, according to the results of a survey by freelance sourcing PeoplePerHour.
Bangkok in particular has been attracting financial technology start-ups as well as those from other industries. The city is considered to be an ideal hub for expansion into the Asean region since it is centrally located and has a large population. Thailand’s growing middle-class is another positive factor that makes it an attractive place for start-ups.
The PeoplePerHour survey took into account several things including the cost of living, rent, monthly salary, and general ease or difficulty of starting a new business. A total of 25 cities were ranked as part of the start-up survey with a total of 5 cities in Asia making the list.
After Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore were the next best cities to launch a start-up in Southeast Asia. Kuala Lumpur was ranked 11th while Singapore finished a spot below it in 12th place. Bangalore and Tokyo were the other Asian cities to make the list.
Vancouver was ranked as the best city to launch a start-up in the PeoplePerHour survey. The western Canadian city ended up in the top spot due to the high quality of life it offers residents. Good access to office space and relative ease of getting a company off the ground were other reasons it was rated so highly.
Europe dominated the top 5 with Berlin finishing in 2nd place and Manchester landing in 3rd spot. Lisbon and Stockholm made up the rest of the top 5 best places to launch a start-up. Two cities in California also made the top 10 with San Diego and Los Angeles placing in 6th and 9th spots respectively.
