The Ritz-Carlton Koh Samui

Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company will partner with YTL Hotels to develop two new hotels in the Asia Pacific region, Hotel Resource News reported. The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui (pictured) and Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Japanese ski-area of Niseko Village set at the base of Mount Niseko-Annupuri will see the brand expand its presence in Thailand and Japan.

The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui is set for the Northern tip of the island in the Plai Laem region. The region, already home to a number of luxury resorts, is known for its beaches along the shores of the Gulf of Thailand. According to Hotel Resource News, there will be 187 guest rooms and pool villas at the luxury resort. In addition to this, a range of dining, wellness and recreational options and facilities are planned for the property. The hotel, which will be a beachfront resort, is located at the north-east end of Koh Samui in the Choeng Mon area.

“When styling and designing a Ritz-Carlton, we are extremely conscious of the surrounding and abundant natural beauty which makes people fall in love with the destination,” Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton, told the website. “We want guests to enjoy and discover the extraordinary diversity and beauty to be found in this part of Thailand.”

Ritz-Carlton Reserve, the new Japan-based hotel, is slated to have only 50 guest rooms. It will also be the first ski-in and ski-out resort in Japan and should be completed sometime in 2020. The hotel will be located in Niseko Village, one of the world’s best ski resorts. The area is open year round and offers a plethora of non-skiing activities for those staying at the property in the spring and summer.

“We have had a long standing relationship with Marriott International since 1995. This expansion into Thailand and Japan is a continuation of our shared success over the years,” Dato’ Mark Yeoh, executive director, YTL Hotels stated. “The Ritz-Carlton, Koh Samui and the Reserve in Niseko Village will elevate the stature of the two highly sought-after tourist destinations.”
