With the recent purchase of three more brands, AccorHotels now operates 55 properties in Thailand and is preparing to discuss strategies with them after the most recent acquisitions. In a bid to become the leader in the luxury hotel segment, the French hotel group acquired the Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel brands.

AccorHotels will now hold talks with the owners of all of the hotels under its management in Thailand along with the owners of the new brands to help better organize the company’s new business plan and business strategies, a source at AccorHotels’ Bangkok office told The Nation.

The source added that AccorHotels will determine if the properties currently in its portfolio want to continue on with the group, and plans on asking the new members as well. The new hotels in Thailand are Swissotel Le Concorde Bangkok, Swissotel Nai Lert Park Bangkok and Swissotel Resort Phuket.

The deal now finds AccorHotels with almost 60 hotels and 13,103 rooms in Thailand under its management. Accor brands found in Thailand include Sofitel, Novotel, Pullman, Mercure and Ibis.

“In Thailand, AccorHotels should take at least six months to talk with all 55 hotels operated by AccorHotels and the three Swissotels,” The Nation reported the source as saying.

The group now holds almost 500 luxury and upscale properties throughout the world after the completion of this transaction. The company added that it hopes to become one of the key global players in the segment that continues to grow year-on-year.

“This is an outstanding opportunity to add three prestigious to our portfolio, and a great step forward for AccorHotels,” Sebastien Bazin, chairman and chief executive officer of AccorHotels, said in a statement. “It offers us robust and global leadership in luxury hotels, a key segment in terms of geographic reach, growth potential and profitability, for long-term value creation.”
