The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have honoured Thailand’s Crown Property Bureau for its successful restoration work.
The Crown Property Bureau organised an award ceremony after UNESCO announced it was one of the recipients of the 2014 Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The award was given for the Bureau’s restoration work at the Phraya Sri Thammathirat Mansion (pictured).
The annual award presentation recognises important people and organisations, and cooperation between government and the private sector. A total of 46 projects were submitted to the contest, and 14 projects from ten countries were selected last year.
At the ceremony, Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Director of the Bureau, was the representative who received the award from UNESCO Director Gwang-jo Kim.
