Cambodia is hoping luxurious showrooms convince buyers to book units, according to the Phnom Penh Post. Homebuilders are spending millions of dollars to make sure they have the fanciest and most appealing showrooms in the country to promote their massive projects.

“What is spending USD1-2 million for a showroom to show the clients what we are going to do for you and this is what you’re going to get?” Harry Martin, head of sales at Oxley Worldbridge, told the Phnom Pehn Post.

Urbanland opened a showroom featuring a 69 sqm. one-bedroom unit complete with a large balcony earlier this year. Another developer, Meridian International Holding, did one better and transformed the entire 15th floor of its 33-story Casa Meridian condominium tower into a showcase featuring actual units. The developer also has plans for a showroom for its upcoming Meridian Square development in Phnom Penh city center.

“In this present world, whereby everything is very visualized for everyone, we believe that the ‘shopping’ experience must be translated into the showrooms,” Salomon Wolf, co-founder and principal of Meridian International, explained to the newspaper.

In May of this year, a showroom for The Peak was unveiled to some 300 guests in one of the country’s largest ever real estate launches. The USD580 million project is a joint venture between Oxley International and Worldbridge Land.
