Terminal 21 Korat

Terminal 21 shopping mall’s expansion plans remain on track as Terminal 21 Korat is set to open before the end of the year. The Bangkok Post reported that Siam Retail Development Co, the developer behind the Terminal 21 brand, has revised its investment strategy and will now build a THB6 billion lifestyle mall in Pattaya.

The shopping complex was originally slated for Nakhon Si Thammarat but the developer decided to build it in Pattaya instead. Siam Retail Development president Prasert Sriuranpong stated the company was shifting its investment to Pattaya because it is one of three main destinations in Thailand. The other two are Phuket and Chiang Mai.

“Pattaya is full of foreign tourists, and the number of arrivals will continue to increase in the coming years,” he told the newspaper. “Our lifestyle shopping mall will take about two years to complete.”

The second Terminal 21 mall will open in the Nakhon Ratchasima province some time in 2016 and construction of the project is already 90 percent complete. The mall is located on a 32-rai plot of land along the Mitrapap Highway. The Post reported that it is being developed under the “Market Street” concept, with themed shopping based on seven world-renowned cities. There will also be a 30-story sightseeing tower.

The project cost THB 6 billion to build and will be nearly three times the size of the flagship Terminal 21 mall in Bangkok. At the moment, 75 percent of retail space at Terminal 21 Korat has already been rented out. SF Cinema City, The Rink Ice Arena, Fanpekka theme park and Foodland Supermarket will be the anchor tenants and there will also be a large number of shops offering local and international brands.

“We’re confident Terminal 21 Korat will be the talk of the town just as Terminal 21 Asok was in recent years,” Prasert added.
