The real estate market in Myanmar continues to grow by leaps and bounds and nowhere is this more evident than on the final shortlist of the Myanmar Property Awards. The number of quality nominees exceeded the expectations of the judging panel and competition in every category is very noticeable.
Shwe Taung Development, one of Myanmar’s leading companies, is shortlisted in the condominium, office, retail and hotel categories and garnered a total of six nominations. Capital Development, Keppel Land International and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Myanmar were next in line with each developer earning three nominations.
This year’s event will build on the success of the inaugural ceremony held last year which saw more than 250 guests in attendance. The Myanmar Property Awards welcomed submissions from the country’s top and emerging real estate firms, including last year’s champion Yoma Strategic Holdings. The developer picked up two nominations this year including one for its acclaimed Galaxy Towers at Star City Phase I.
“We’ve received very high quality entries across the board. Many different types of companies and projects have entered. And all of them are very high standard in 2016 in terms of actual developments, so we’re quite happy with all the finalists,” Richard Emerson, former country manager of Savills Myanmar, and the chairman of the independent panel of judges, explained. “It’s fair to say that we got a lot of entries from very large-scale projects this year, which were missing from last year’s lineup. This gives the Myanmar Property Awards breadth.”
The 2016 edition of the awards were launched nearly six months ago. All eligible entries have been undergoing the fair and transparent judging process which included site visits from the judges during the past few weeks. The winners of the second annual Myanmar Property Awards will be announced on 30th June during a black-tie gala dinner at the Sule Shangri-La Yangon.
