Ascott announced that The Crest Collection, a European-based serviced residence, will open its first project in Asia. The Metropole Bangkok will be situated on the corner of Thonglor and Phetchaburi Road and is scheduled to open in September of this year.
“The location really is impossible to beat,” Jean Keijdener, general manager of Ascott in Thailand, told local media. Ascott Thailand has been entrusted to manage the new property which will have a total of 116 units.
The company is hoping the serviced residences appeal to Bangkok’s expatriate and tourist crowd looking for something a little different. Thonglor is known for a number of trendy bars and eateries and has long been a popular place among the city’s Japanese community and foreign executives.
The project will have a hotel license and contain a number of studio and one-bedroom apartments designed for long stay guests. The Metropole Bangkok will become the fourth property to be marketed under The Crest Collection when it opens later this year.
The other three projects are located in Paris and were formerly operated under Ascott’s Citadines Suites brand. These projects have recently been rebranded and launched as La Clef Louvre Paris, La Clef Champs-Elysees Paris and La Clef Tour Eiffel Paris. The new brand targets a more upscale demographic being designed for high-end clientele looking for serviced residences during mid- to long-term stays.
Ascott has more than 30 years of experience in managing properties worldwide and is a member of Singapore-based CapitaLand. The company operates 290 serviced residences in 100 cities across the globe. Eight of these properties are located in Bangkok operating under the Ascott, Citadines and Somerset brands. Another service residence, Somerset Ekkamai Bangkok, is scheduled to open later this year.
“It is testament to our commitment to Thailand and our faith in Bangkok that we have chosen the Metropole as the first development in Asia to be branded as The Crest Collection property,” concluded Keijdener.
