Amari Yangzhou Guilin

Amari Yangshuo, Onyx Hospitality Group’s first Amari-branded hotel in China, is set to open in Gulian during the first half of 2017, the company announced in a press release. It will be one of three Amari hotels to open in China between now and the end of the decade.

Two more Amari projects, Amari Huidong in Guandong and Amari Dali in Dali, are scheduled to begin operations in 2019 as Onyx continues its expansion into the country. The hotel will have a total of 73 rooms and stand four stories when completed. Local developer Shenzhen Yitian Group Co., Ltd is building the property.

“At Onyx Hospitality Group, we are committed not just towards attracting more guests to our Thailand-based properties, but expanding our presence in other parts of the region,” Tommy Lai, vice president, North Asia, ONYX Hospitality Group. “We are excited to announce that our first Amari in China is on track to open in the first half of 2017. Amari Yangshuo symbolizes the strong Sino-Thai cooperation between Shenzhen Yitian and Onyx, and also a significant milestone for our expanding Amari brand.”

Amari Yangshuo will be located next to West Street, one of the oldest streets in Guilin. There will be views of the waterfront as well as the city’s love bridge and some of the surrounding nature. Amari noted that the design will feature Oriental influences along with several Thai-style design elements and will be incorporated into the Yitian West Street development.

The new hotel will contain a number of features including a spa, fitness center, cafe, lounge and a new restaurant concept that will be exclusive to Amari Yangshuo. It will be the Thailand-based Amari’s 14th hotel when it opens.

Onyx, which is owned by the Italthai Group, currently manages five hotel brands. Its Shama brand operates three hotels in Shanghai and Hangzhou with five more properties across China set to open during the next three years.
