Meliá Hotels International And TCC Land Team Up To Open 2 New Thailand Hotels

Meliá Hotels International will open 2 new hotels in the coming years after signing agreements for the Meliá Chiang Mai and Innside Bangkok Sukhumvit, according to media reports. The latter property will be the company’s 2nd hotel in Bangkok following Meliá Bangkok, which is set to open soon.

These 2 properties are part of a major expansion in the region for Meliá Hotels International who also signed agreements for new hotels in China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The company has added a total of 30 hotels in the Asia Pacific region recently with another 44 hotels in operation or in the pre-opening phase, according to a press release.

Innside Bangkok Sukhumvit and Meliá Chiang Mai will be owned by TCC Land Company. The 2 companies have a long-term partnership. TCC Land owns a portfolio over 50 hotels in Thailand as well as overseas.

Innside Bangkok Sukhumvit will have a total of 176 rooms and is scheduled to open in 2021. The property will be close to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. This is 1st Innside-branded property to be opened by Meliá in Thailand.

Meliá Chiang Mai will be the brand’s 1st hotel in Chiang Mai as the company wants to take advantage of the city’s tourism potential, natural and cultural attributes, and human capital. The company purchased an existing hotel and will take over management of the property immediately. However, it will be refitted with the Meliá brand standards and rebranding which won’t happen fully until 2019. The current hotel currently has 325 guestrooms but the company will reduce this number to 261 after the renovation.

Meliá Hotels International is expected to add more properties to its portfolio before the end of the year. It currently has more than 150 hotels in its portfolio under several brands.
