Sansiri plans to continue targeting buyers from abroad with the company having plans to expand into Japan and the Middle East as well as pushing further into China. The developer will open 2 new sales offices in the Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Guangzhou adding to the offices it has already opened in Beijing and Shanghai, local media reports.
The company is hoping to bring in THB 7.5 billion from foreign buyers this year. Sansiri boosted its sales to foreign buyers 3 years ago and has marketed its projects to potential buyers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai finding a good deal of success.
“We have an aggressive marketing policy to drive our sales from foreigners interested in expanding their investment or staying in Thailand. We recorded sales to foreign buyers worth THB 5.4 billion in 2016,” says Sansiri President Srettha Thavisin.
Sansiri has seen its overseas sales value increase, earning THB 3.5 billion in 2015 and THB 5.4 billion last year, reports The Nation. It will now expand its presence to Japan and the Middle East focusing on Dubai. The company will also increase its focus on China. Chinese buyers have been eager to buy residential properties for investment in Thailand. Bangkok and tourist destinations outside the capital are the most popular places for this real estate investment.
Almost 80 per cent of the foreigners who made purchases in the company’s residential projects were investors. These buyers rent out the homes to generate an annual return on investment of 5 to 8 per cent in most cases.
“We tell our customers that we are an integrated property firm,” says Sansiri Deputy Vice President Pitchakorn Meesak. “When investors buy in our residential projects, we suggest that they contact our subsidiary Plus Property Co when they need an agency to manage their assets. This is one of the keys to our success from selling our residential projects to investors overseas.”
