MK Restaurants Ready For THB 400 Million Expansion

3 เม.ย. 2560

MK Restaurants can be found in malls and shopping centres throughout the country and now MK Restaurants Group is set to invest THB 400 million per year over the next 5 years on further expansion. In addition to increasing its presence in Thailand, the brand will look at international markets such as Singapore, according to media reports.

There are already plans in place to open 15 of its popular MK Restaurant branches in Thailand in 2017. There will also be 25 Yayoi and 5 Miyazaki Japanese restaurants to open this year with a couple of franchised restaurants of each set brand to open in overseas markets. The company has organised a joint venture in Singapore to run its restaurants in the country.

“We are also open for acquisition deals with select companies in food, services and retailing, so they will be able to use our infrastructure and logistics,” says Chairman/CEO Rit Thirakomen to Retail News Asia.

The company is also looking to attract younger customers and is hoping its MK Live brand is able to accomplish that. The flagship MK Live restaurant was unveiled at The Emquartier shopping mall last month. The new brand targets health-conscious and lifestyle consumers that are more likely to be teenagers, young adults and families.

The restaurant features a Live Showcase open kitchen that allows diners to see the chefs working on their meals. MK Live is a hot pot restaurant that serves dim sum and meatballs along with higher-end items like lobsters from Canada, scallops from the US and Wagyu beef from Japan.

MK Restaurants Group has a number of other eateries in its portfolio including Hakata Ramen, Le Petit coffee shop and bakery, Le Siam Thai Restaurant, MK Gold Restaurants and Na Siam Thai Restaurant. The company currently has 600 outlets in Thailand along with 40 franchised outlets in Indonesia, Japan and Vietnam, according to Retail News Asia.
