While most people use vending machines to purchase a quick snack or a soft drink, a used car dealer in Singapore has taken the concept to a whole new level. Autobahn Motors has created what it calls “the world’s largest luxury car vending machine” where buyers can acquire the luxury ride of their dreams by simply pressing a button, reports Reuters.
Buyers can choose from Bentleys, Ferraris and Lamborghinis which are contained in the so-called vending machine. Customers walk up to the machine, which is located on the ground floor of Autobahn Motors’ showroom, and use a touchscreen display to select the car they wish to see. The car then arrives in a couple of minutes via the advanced system that manages vehicle retrieval.
The idea of a vending machine that dispenses luxury cars came from a desire to make efficient use of space in Singapore, a country that has only a limited amount of land available. Gary Hong, general manager at Autobahn Motors, also admits to Reuters that it helps his company stand out from the competition.
“We needed to meet our requirement of storing a lot of cars. At the same time, we wanted to be creative and innovative,” says Monk.
A total of 60 cars are displayed in the vending machine which is part of the used car dealership’s futuristic 15-storey showroom that opened last year. U.S. company Carvana also uses a vending machine-like tower to sell used cars, but the Singapore machine has much more luxurious offerings available to buy.
Other vending machines that offer high-end products include one that sells Moët and Chandon Champagne. Arnaud, the company behind the two products, has created 3 of these champagne vending machines and each one travels the world only staying in a city for a few days.
