Viewings or inspections as it is all commonly known as, are vital in buying a property. Seeing several properties at one time can become confusing and afterwards it can be hard to decipher each one. It is advisable to document each one by taking photographs and starting by taking a snap of the front door to differentiate between each viewing.
Once you have shortlisted the properties, going back to view for a second or even third time will determine which property suits your needs the best. This will give you the opportunity to look out for anything that you may have missed, as well to see the properties at different times of the day. For example, the school next door may easily be missed whilst viewing at the weekend, but on a Monday morning this could be a very different story.
The purpose of viewing on a second or third occasion will allow you to look through any practical aspects, this can even include whether your furniture will fit. Take a tape measure and the dimensions of your furniture to check the sizes of each room. Have a good look around and don’t be shy to open cupboards and doors.
Remember to try and look beyond the unit’s contents. Show homes of new developments will carefully select furniture in a bid to sell a lifestyle, so don’t get swayed by the beautiful dressings that could be hiding something. For example, if a room isn’t the biggest then smaller furniture will give it the appearance of being bigger, so a measuring tape will be able to check this for you.
As well as having a good look around, ask the practical questions too such as Internet connections, service providers and whether you can fit a dishwasher if that is your priority. The answers to any for these questions can all influence your decision.
