EXCLUSIVE: Bangkok is now considered to be in the top tier of Southeast Asian destinations for U.K. property developers seeking to sell their new property developments in the region.
According to Charles Leigh – Senior Director for Residential Property for Central London at CBRE, the capital of Thailand has now joined Singapore and Hong Kong in terms of importance when developers from the U.K. are planning their property exhibitions in Southeat Asia. Bangkok is well ahead of both Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta, he added.
Leigh was in Bangkok last weekend with the London Dock E1 property exhibition, developed by St George and marketed by CBRE. Leigh confirmed a number of sales were achieved last weekend, and both the agency and developer were happy with the outcome of the Bangkok property exhibition.
He said: “We saw one couple buying for their child who will be studying in London, but of course they will also benefit from capital appreciation over time and rental returns once their child has finished their studies.”
London remains attractive to Thai property buyers and investors, and this was evident by the fact there were four separate United Kingdom property exhibitions in Bangkok last weekend.
Leigh added that CBRE plans to exhibit another four or five London properties in Bangkok during 2015 – significantly higher than the number they handled last year.
