The third annual China Property Awards are coming up and the country is getting ready to reward the best real estate companies and properties once again. The shortlist of nominees for this year’s awards features 14 developers vying for honours in 22 categories.
Phoenix Property Investors leads the list with four nominations for its ultra luxury condo project The Morgan in Hong Kong’s Mid-Levels West district. Three of its nominations are for the project’s outstanding architectural and interior designs. Tied in second place are two commercial real estate giants, Wheelock Properties and Wynn Resort Ltd. Each organisation is up for three awards in 2016.
Wynn Palace by Wynn Resort was nominated in a number of hotel subcategories, while Wheelock Properties’ One HarbourGate is competing for the Best Green Development award while also looking to take home two awards in the office subcategories.
The Best Developer winner in 2015, Sino-Ocean Group Holding Limited, will return as well. This year it is competing for Best Residential Development (China). Other developers up for more than one award this year include Phoenix Property Investors, hpa, Sun Hung Kai Properties, and LKF Group.
Developers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau have been nominated by an independent panel of judges. This comes after several months of deliberation, judging and site visits supervised by BDO.
The judging panel chairman Trevor Vivian, global director of design firm Benoy, explained that the judges looked for the sustainable and socially responsible qualities of the projects that entered.
“It was important for the judges to look developments that can fulfill what they promised and add amenities to their surrounding areas,” Vivian said. “Now there is a greater demand for socially responsible developments that are efficient, cost effective and also deliver on their briefs. In other words, there is a drive to a greater quality product that is both dynamic but still provides efficiency.”
The China Property Awards 2016 winners will be revealed on 7th December during a black-tie gala dinner at the JW Marriott Hong Kong.
