The mansion shown during the opening of the popular 1960s TV show Beverly Hillbillies was put up for sale and is now the most expensive real estate listing in the USA reports Bloomberg. The home is located in California and is available for USD350 million.
Known as Chartwell, the property has 10.3 acres of land and the mansion itself is 25,000 sq. feet. They layout of the entire estate was inspired by French Neoclassical design. The USD350 million listing price makes it the most expensive on the American market by USD100 million.
Inside the mansion there is a ballroom, a formal salon, and a temperature-controlled wine cellar, according to the a description created by Hilton & Hyland, Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, the three companies listing the property.

The property also has gardens, a tennis court, a 75-foot pool with a pool house, and covered parking spaces for 40 automobiles. There are also views of the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles that can be enjoyed from the mansion.
Chartwell was originally built in 1933 and was previously owned by A. Jerrold Perenchio who bought the mansion more than 30 years ago, according to Bloomberg. He expanded the grounds by purchasing adjacent properties including a nearby guest house and a property once owned by Ronald and Nancy Reagan. He has since incorporated these into the estate.
The only real issue with Chartwell is the fact that it wasn’t actually used to flim the show, just the opening sequence. The scenes of the Beverly Hillbillies were shot elsewhere in Los Angeles. The TV show was a worldwide success and was on the air for 9 years with more than 270 episodes being made. The Beverly Hillbillies followed the adventures of Jed Clampett after he found oil, became rich and moved to California.
