When Natalie Glebova won the Miss Universe competition in 2005, little did she know at the time that she would be living in the host country of Thailand nearly a decade later. After her victory, she returned to Thailand several times with the popular Singha brand signing her to be a brand ambassador.
These days the Russian-Canadian model and television personality along with her husband, former Mister Panama Dean Kelly, and their daughter Maya call Thailand home. The couple purchased a 3-bedroom condo unit in Bangkok in 2014 and she also owns 2 condos by the beach in Pattaya.
“The country and the people gave us such a warm welcome; it was hard not to fall in love with it. I felt so comfortable in Thailand and the Thais have even given me a local nickname, Fah. I’m very happy with my decision to settle here, because so many wonderful and amazing things have happened to me to make this a very special place in my heart,” says Glebova.
Of course finding a condo in Thailand can be difficult with so many unique neighbourhoods and places to stay. The couple ended up choosing Thonglor where there are a number of trendy restaurants and bars. The condo they selected also offers a few nice features she enjoys.
“I loved the fact that it has only 7 floors and doesn’t have too many units. I prefer to stay close to the ground — I don’t like to live in high-rises up in the sky — and also fewer units, so it’s quieter and not so crowded.” says Glebova.
She may not be done buying Thailand real estate just yet. She claims she would love to own more property in Asia with the south of Thailand being of particular interest. She singles out places like Krabi or Trat as being two destinations she could envision herself buying home at.
