The Myanmar Property Awards are back for a third time after two successful editions. This year’s awards were launched earlier in the week and are set to take place on 30 June 2017, at the luxurious Sule Shangri-La Yangon. The event continues to grow and more submissions and attendees are expected to come this time around.
The black-tie event will bring out the country’s leading developers as well as up-and-coming companies spanning the property development, architecture and design fields. Categories cover the residential, commercial and hospitality sectors. In addition to the various awards categories, the Myanmar Property Awards 2017 will have several special awards including Best Green Development, Special Recognition in CSR and Special Recognition in Sustainable Development.
More than 120 submissions are expected for third edition of the awards, a significant increase from the 76 eligible entries received last year. In 2016, Myanmar’s biggest winner last year was four-time awardee Shwe Taung Development Co Ltd, which collected its Best Developer trophy. Singapore’s Keppel Land and Capital Development also received awards last year. Meanwhile respected businessman Serge Pun, executive chairman of the SPA Group of Companies, was named Real Estate Personality of the Year.
“I was very honoured and very humbled to be recognised by the Myanmar Property Awards,” said Serge Pun when he received the 2016 Real Estate Personality of the Year award during the well-attended gala dinner. “These awards are an encouragement for all of us in the Myanmar property industry to do better in the future.”
Chairman of the judges this year will be Richard Emerson, the managing director at Emerson Real Estate (Myanmar), and Zaw Erskine, director at BDO, the world’s fifth largest auditing and accountancy firm and the official judging supervisors.
The official shortlist, comprising one Winner and up to four Highly Commended companies or projects in each category, will be announced in the final week of May. Nominations for the 2017 edition are open for all developers, consumers and the general public and will remain open until 21 April.
