Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Limited’s Whizdom101 mixed-use project has been shortlisted as 1 of 7 smart city business models by the Ministry of Energy. The company was selected for its integrated digital society ecosystem that turns urban areas into a smart city while serving as a model for minimizing environmental impact.
The project is designed not only to improve residents’ quality of life, but also contributing to sustainability. The company hopes Whizdom101 is able to become Southeast Asia’s 1st complete and integrated digital society. The development has both residential and commercial zones that have been modelled after Silicon Valley as well.
Whizdom101 was selected from 36 smart city projects to enter to win the award as part of the Smart Cities-Clean Energy scheme organised by the Ministry of Energy and Thai Green Building Institute. The 7 shortlisted projects are each entitled to a development fund worth THB 10 million.
“We want to show that business and sustainable urbanization can go together. This project addresses this issue and is shortlisted for the smart city model award. The project can reduce energy consumption by 30 per cent compared to projects in the same category. It’s our pride in assuring energy efficiency and effectively making use of natural energy,” says Suttha Ruengchaipaiboon, EVP of MQDC.
MQDC continues to base its brand vision on sustainability and innovation that uses in-depth human behavioural research and residential designs that provide the best in health and well being. The developer also looks for ways to save energy and protect the environment.
“Urban people live in a rush, accustomed to traveling between home, office, and shopping malls. They forget other dimensions of life. Whizdom101 is created under the concept “The Great Good Place”, offering the lifestyle complex that can return happiness to the urban people. It’s a family dining place and the venue for shopping, exercise, recreation, meeting and seeking new inspirations,” says Suttha.
