The South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016, the most prestigious real estate awards event in the country, will soon be here and the final deadline for submissions is approaching quickly. Now in its third year, the event honors the best real estate developers and developments in Malaysia.

Some of last year’s winners include Mammoth Empire, S P Setia, Front Concept Group and Sime Darby Property. The projects and developers who are recognized as winners or highly commended see their reputation and stature in the industry increase as they are mentioned alongside some of the best and most innovative real estate companies in the country.

Despite a slow two years for Malaysia’s real estate industry, there is a real belief that everything could soon be turning around. PropertyGuru’s Malaysia Property Market Sentiment Survey Report H1 2016 noted that investors are considering purchasing properties in Malaysia once again despite its slowing economy, weakening currency and rising property prices. That’s because they believe that there is a good prospect for long-term capital appreciation in the country.

“The biggest challenge facing the industry this year is the consolidation of the real estate market and the uncertainties facing it,” Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Lang Wootton and chairman of the 2016 central panel of judges, stated. “Stakeholders are increasingly finding it tough to make critical decisions as the future direction continues to be vulnerable to negative market forces.”

The deadline for the South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016 nominations is 3rd June. Developers, industry players, consumers and the general public are eligible to make nominations. All entrants are judged by an independent panel of industry experts. The nominees will be revealed in July with the awards ceremony taking place in Kuala Lumpur on 11th August.
