The sixth annual South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore) will have a few more trophies to hand out this year as organizers announced six new awards for 2016. One of the most notable additions to the awards lineup will be the Special Recognition in Sustainable Development honor that will be awarded to developers who are committed to building projects using sustainable practices.

Best Commercial Development is another popular category from last year that is set to be expanded. The new categories under this segment include Best Retail Development, Best Office Development, Best Hotel Development and Best Mixed-Use Development. These awards will highlight Singapore’s impressive commercial real estate scene which has no shortage of quality projects.

Nominations are currently being accepted. Developers, consumers and the general public can put forth projects or companies they believe should be honored. The nominations process ends on 9th September after which the independent panel of judges will begin site visits.

A familiar face will be leading the process as popular architect and designer Mink Tan, chief design officer at MINKKE Pte Ltd, will return as the chairman of the judges in 2016. He served as head judge at last year’s South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore).

“The experience has been enriching and rewarding, as I have gained and learned much from my fellow judges who all hail from diverse backgrounds like development, finance, investment, amongst others,” Tan stated. “As a judge, I would think that the impact of the Awards must surely be a positive one, otherwise you wouldn’t see all these developers sending multiple nominations and Winners brandishing the Awards on their advertisement banners year after year.”

Finalists for each category are scheduled to be announced at the end of October. The South East Asia Property Awards (Singapore) 2016 will take place on 24th November at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.
