Chiang Mai top for overseas retirees

24 Jul 2013

The northern Thai city of Chiang Mai has been listed as one of the top eight places to retire by an overseas website.

The Live and Invest Overseas portal ranked the city as one its top eight places to retire in its annual survey. Chiang Mai was listed alongside Coronado in Panama, Medellin in Colombia, the south of France, Kuala Lumpur, Cayo in Belize, Cuenca in Ecuador and Granada in Nicaragua.

The report noted: “Chiang Mai is an inexpensive place to live by almost any standard. With housing prices so low, it’s no wonder so many expats have chosen to make Thailand their permanent home.”

Cities were selected based on criteria that included the cost of living, real estate costs, levels of infrastructure and safety.
