To tap into the increasing number of Thai investors looking at London property, leading U.K. property developer the Berkeley Group and Colliers International held an exclusive cocktail evening in Bangkok last night to showcase a selection of premium London developments to the local market.
Projects showcased included One Tower Bridge, One Blackfriars, 190 Strand and Wimbledon Hill Park.
Ashley Osborne, Executive Director of Colliers International, comments: “Asian investors continue to witness capital appreciation of their international real estate investments, especially in London where we are seeing the highest levels of demand.
“Popular London projects tend to be those which are located in central areas, with strong transport links and built by a developer with a strong track record, whom buyers know they can trust, such as Berkeley.”
Colliers International noted that interest is rising for U.K. projects amongst Thai investors.
Christian Robb, Senior Sales Manager, International Project Sales & Marketing at Colliers, said: “In Thailand the reasons to invest in the U.K. are much the same as elsewhere in Asia. Investors may be looking to diversify their property portfolios, their children may attend university in the U.K. and therefore want a home for the duration of their studies, or they may have personal or business interests in London and the UK.
“Whatever the justification for purchasing, the underlying reason is investment, as London’s reputation as a safe haven appeals to the global investor.”
Paul Bennett, International Business Development Director for Berkeley comments: “The demand for our homes has grown throughout Asia especially in Hong Kong and Singapore, and has now extended to Thailand. We are pleased to have been able to introduce an exclusive range of Berkeley projects to the Bangkok market.”
