EXCLUSIVE: The only Bangkok property development to exhibit in Singapore last weekend experienced a lower turnout than at previous exhibitions in the city-state.
The current political situation was cited as one of the reasons for the low interest levels for Ideo Mobi Rama 9 (pictured), a 703-unit project being developed by listed developer Ananda Development.
Dr. John Millar, Head of Financial Strategy and Investor Relations for the developer, told DDproperty.com: “Those who came to the event asked when the political crisis will end and whether Bangkok itself is safe. The first part obviously we can’t answer, the second part is that the area around our project is seeing no protests and thus the protests have not reduced the safety.
“However the most frequent questions were specifically on the units and things like the view, rather than the political situation. Most seemed well aware of the Bangkok political situation and how quickly it has rebounded after previous protests.”
Millar added that his company will make a decision regarding holding future property exhibitions in Singapore during the current political situation once sales for last weekend’s event have been confirmed.
