Bad news is good news for sales

Late last month authorities in Pattaya urged local land units to conduct an investigation into the construction of a high-rise condominium which it believes blocks the scenery of its famous beach.

A series of complaints were understood to have been lodged with the Center for Resolution of Complaints in Pattaya regarding the almost-complete 53-story Waterfront Suites and Residences condominium. Many complainants reported that the building obstructs the view of the shoreline from the popular viewpoint at Phra Tamnak Hill.

The developers have declined to comment to the media, however a message on the development’s Facebook page in late August read: “In the past 10 days we have received 1000’s of emails, messages and telephone calls from clients, agents and general members of the public, both Thai and Foreign offering us their support and best wishes for our Waterfront project.

“In this time, it has not been easy to see so much bad publicity, as well as information that is not correct about our company and the Waterfront project, however as instructed by our lawyers we cannot respond to anyone in the media or on social networking websites at this time.

“On completion of the investigation, we hope that everyone in the media will give us the opportunity to give our side of the story. We are cooperating with City Hall officials and the investigation is continuing with positive results for us so far, and we hope to have the situation fully cleared as soon as possible.”

On September 5, a further message was posted on the page noting four sales to Thai buyers from Bangkok in the previous seven days alone, and interest in the project being at an all-time high.
