Thailand has climbed up to the third place in ASEAN in the ICT Networked Readiness Index (NRI) after Singapore and Malaysia, and the 67th out of 143 countries worldwide, NBTC Secretary General Thakorn Tantasit revealed to reporters yesterday.
The assessment of networked readiness was prepared by the Global Information Technology Report of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The new ranking showed the overall readiness of ICT and Communications in Thailand had increased as indicated by key indexes: the allocation of frequencies and number, the promotion policy to universal services, the regulation of service rates and the promotion of market competition in order to protect customer rights.
Thakorn said that the number of mobile high-speed internet users among population also moved up to 42nd in 2015 from 132nd in 2014.
The NRI report also analysed that the mobile phone networks in Thailand could cover all the population.
