CBRE unveils Urban Photographer of the Year 2016 competition

26 Sep 2016

CBRE has launched its global Urban Photographer of the Year competition with this being the event’s 10th anniversary. Last year’s competition attracted more than 21,000 entries from 113 countries around the world and the company believes it will continue to grow.

The theme of 2016 is ‘Cities of Connections: People, Places, Perspectives’. CBRE explained in a press release that this year’s theme invites photographers to capture moments of connectivity across the daily cycle of city life and submit them for a chance to win.

“CBRE has the unique opportunity to play a critical role in both shaping and celebrating stories of the urban environment,” Paul Suchman, CBRE’s global chief marketing officer, stated in a press release. “We are proud to honor the richness and diversity of city life around the world and encourage photographers to capture the essence of the urban environment.”

The competition is free to enter and both professional and amateur photographers are eligible to participate. There are also youth categories for children to enter. The competition allows each entrant to submit up to 24 images: one to represent each hour of the day. This gives people a chance to get creative with their entries.

There will be one overall global winner who will be awarded a special photography trip to a destination of their choice for themself and a friend. A number of other prizes are up for grabs including photography drones, GoPro cameras and more.

Last year’s overall winner of the Urban Photographer of the Year competition was Oscar Rialubin. His winning picture was ‘Xyclop’, a portrait of a horologist at work.
