Dusit Set For Vietnam As Hotel Continues International Expansion

Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort

Dusit International shows no signs of slowing down after reaching a franchise deal with Vietnam’s Linh Chi Co that will see the brand open its 1st hotel in Vietnam sometime in 2017, according to a company press release. The property will be located on the island of Phu Quoc.

The new property will be known as the Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort. Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island, is an area that has become a tourist hotspot. A total of 1.5 million people visited the region in 2015. Most international guests came from Europe and the United States while wealthy Vietnamese citizens also holiday on the island. The Vietnamese government is estimating visitor arrivals to top 3 million by 2020.

Dusit believes that Phu Quoc is likely to keep growing as a tourist attraction in the next decade. The company cited the numerous mega-projects being proposed by the Vietnamese government as a reason to be optimistic.

“Phu Quoc will be outlined as a special economic zone in the coming years, and Dusit saw an influx of high-end foreign travellers to the island, indicating very high potential,” says Dusit Thani Group Chief Executive Suphajee Suthumoun in a press release.

Dusit Princess Moonrise Beach Resort is scheduled to open in the 3rd quarter of this year and will have a total of 108 rooms. There is no shortage of competition in Phu Quoc with the island having over 200 hotels at the moment. Both Linh Chi Co and Dusit are confident its project will succeed regardless of the competition as the market still has room for growth.

Dusit International currently manages 29 hotels in 17 countries and has been aggressively targeting opportunities outside of Thailand. The company locked up a new franchise deal in Bangladesh earlier this year and also signed a joint venture agreement to develop new properties in Japan with a local partner.
