Thonburi Healthcare To Spend THB 10 Billion On Elderly Care Development

Jin Wellbeing County

The United Nations has classified Thailand as an ageing society and in an attempt to cater to this growing market Thonburi Healthcare Group has said it will invest more than THB 10 billion to develop an integrated residential and healthcare complex designed for elderly residents.

The complex will be the 1st of its kind in Thailand and is set to be constructed on a 140-rai land plot on Phahon Yothin Road. Jin Wellbeing County is designed to ensure elderly residents have a place to live that meets their unique needs. These types of developments are currently lacking in Thailand.

“The number of senior citizens is on the rise but there are no comprehensive residential developments with healthcare services to support them,” says Thonburi Healthcare Group Chairman Boon Vanasin to the Bangkok Post.

This development is Thonburi Healthcare Group’s 1st real estate project and will eventually include 13 low-rise residential buildings. The project is being built in 3 phases with the 1st phase estimated to cost THB 4.4 billion. In addition to the residences, it will contain an aged-care centre that has a day care, a nursing home, a clubhouse, and a wellness centre. The company is aiming to start construction later this year and hopes to have the 1st phase finished by the end of 2018.

“It will redefine how seniors live. It is a new residential concept in retirement that will combine our 40 years of experience in medical services,” says Boon.

The units at the project have been designed to best accommodate senior citizens. Thonburi Healthcare Group has seen a good response to the project which was launched earlier in May. Nearly 80 per cent of buyers were Thai and 30 per cent of all buyers purchased multiple units, according to Boon.

Phase 2 at the project will consist of mostly residential buildings while phase 3 is expected to have a community mall and hospitals as well as step-down care facilities to ensure residents have options when it comes to healthcare.
