Co-working and serviced office provider Glowfish has expanded quickly in recent years and has now moved into another one of Bangkok’s CBD areas. Heritage Estates Co Ltd, the company that owns Glowfish, purchased 4,000 sq. metres of office space at the Sathorn Thani Building last year and will open a new facility this year, according to media reports.
The space cost THB600 million to buy and renovate and it will be used to open Glowfish’s 3rd Bangkok co-working space and serviced office. The company purchased the building’s 2nd through 8th floors from Standard Chartered Bank in 2016. The complex will have serviced offices, collaborative spaces and meeting rooms. Named the Glowfish Sathorn Lifestyle Workplace, it will open on 1st September.
“The new generation looks for a workplace with flexible work hours where they can work, play and grow, as work-life balance is their lifestyle. They also prefer an office in the central business district near the skytrain. These locations are our target,” says Managing Director Gavin Vongkusolkit to the Bangkok Post.
Glowfish opened its 1st office space in Asoke Towers 6 years ago and that facility is currently at 80 per cent occupancy. It opened a 2nd Glowfish location in Siam Square last year and that space has reached 100 per cent occupancy. The company is now looking at new opportunities in Bangkok and internationally. It was noted that the co-working market is becoming more competitive locally which is why the company is looking at new ways to expand its horizons and find a different niche than other providers.
“We are not competing with co-working space operators as they target startups. We target established SMEs. We eye to expand serviced office business in Vietnam and the Philippines within the next two years as our family has businesses in these two countries which can help us start businesses there more easily,” says Gavin.
