Newest CentralPlaza In Korat To Open In November

CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima, the newest shopping centre from Central Pattana Plc (CPN), is scheduled to open in November, reports local media. The mall is just a part of a THB 10.6 billion mixed-use development that will also have a hotel, convention centre, condo, shopping mall, lifestyle outdoor market, and a public park.

The convention centre will also be opening in November while the hotel and condo projects are set to be completed in the coming years. CentralPlaza Nakhonratchasima becomes CPN’s 31st shopping mall and will serve the people of Korat and nearby provinces which have 2.63 million residents living within a 90 kilometre radius. Anchor tenants at the shopping complex will include Central Department Store, Tops Superstore, Power Buy, SuperSports, B2S, and SFX Cinema.

“Some 500 shops offering leading brands of apparel and restaurants have indicated their interest in opening at the mall. Several popular Korean restaurants such as Bonchon Chicken and RedSun Thailand Tokpokki together with Matsumoto Kiyoshi, a famous cosmetics and drugstore chain from Japan, are set to debut on the northeastern soil,” says Pakorn Parthanapat, CPN Chief Operating Officer, to the Bangkok Post.

During a recent study of the area CPN found that Korat plays a prominent role in the country’s economy, trade, and investment since it serves as a gateway to 20 provinces in the Northeastern part of the country. This area will benefit from future megaprojects planned by the government which are scheduled to be finished by 2020.

The province also offers a connection to the Eastern Economic Corridor which is an area being developed by the government. The economy of Nakhon Ratchasima is one of the largest in the region with a total of THB245 billion of gross regional and province product, according to the National Economic Social and Development Board. The province’s growth rate is also strong having averaged a 7.2% increase annually between 2004 and 2014.
