Respected designer Anne Carson has made a name for herself in Manhattan, but was selected by Sansiri to help with the interiors of its superluxury project, 98 Wireless. This was her 1st project in Bangkok and Asia, however, it is one that offered a similar feel to developments she has worked on in New York.
“I think it’s very reminiscent of Manhattan in Park Avenue, especially with the treeline. The 25-storey skyscraper sits at the edge of Lumpini, one of Bangkok’s biggest parks, and beside the US ambassador’s residence,” says Carson.
The project let her explore some universal trends when it comes to luxury and home life. She also called upon inspiration from her New York roots by utilising Beaux Art styles of the 1920s. This allowed her to keep the interiors simple with cleaner lines that allowed for the design direction to be more appropriate.
“I think that design is kind of trending back into some of the more traditional aspects of people wanting the comfort, luxury and that type of feeling in the interior,” says Carson.
This was Carson’s 1st project in Asia as she looks to take her firm, Anne Carson Interiors, global. She started her own company after working for several years as an in-house creative designer for Ralph Lauren Home. She will now head back home to start working on a luxury development in Manhattan which will be one of the tallest buildings in New York City when finished.
“I was excited about the chance to work in Bangkok for the first time, and thrilled to be able to be part of such a special project. But it’s always worth coming back to Bangkok. I really enjoy making friends here,” concludes Carson.
