The Mall Group will spend THB400 million for the renovation of its retail shopping centres in Ngam Wong Wan, Bang Kapi and Bang Khae in Bangkok to become lifestyle entertainment shopping venues.
The Bang Khae branch will be the top priority for renovation as new community malls, convenience stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets have opened in the district. Housing projects will also be created within the skytrain extension.
“We will adjust the merchandising mix and product displays to respond to the more complicated demand. By doing so, we will maintain existing customers and increase frequency and spending. We can expand our base of new customers too,” said Vanchai Janvuttarunggul, Group General Manager for shopping complexes.
Moreover, new zoning will be done at the mall converting 10,000 sq m on the fourth floor to be the City Walk, 3,000 sq m as a fashion venue and 6,000 sq m for food and education anchors.
The Mall Group also plans to renovate its Fantasia Lagoon water parks and its malls in Bang Kapi and Ngam Wong Wan for THB80 million as well as increase the space for events by 50 percent to 1,500 sq m.
This year, about 300 upcoming marketing activities are expected for which the company has set aside THB200 million for. Some activities will be raised into international level.
The company has teamed up with Citibank to help Citi M Visa upgrade into a global shopping and lifestyle credit card that offers more benefits to Thais as well as foreign tourists, said Natsamon Vongkittipat, Group General Manager for marketing.
