Bangkok's cheapest land revealed

18 Feb 2014

While land in the centre of Bangkok has been revealed as the most expensive in the kingdom, plots elsewhere on the outskirts of the capital are available for a fraction of the price.

Thailand’s Agency for Real Estate Affairs (AREA) recently reported the price of land around Siam Square at THB1.65 million per square wah – equivalent to 4 sqm.

AREA also revealed the cheapest land in Bangkok – although some distance from the centre of the city in Pathum Thani district – is priced at a mere THB2,500 per square wah.

Sophon Pornchokchai, President of AREA, told DDproperty.com that the land price at Klong 13 along Lam Luk Ka Road – some one hours’ drive from the centre of the city – is the cheapest at the moment because the area still doesn’t have a good infrastructure to support convenient living.

Sophon added that another area for cheap land is opposite Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centre in Ayutthaya province. This is due to restrictions on large or commercial buildings in the area to keep a well-maintained environment.
