London project targets Thais

19 Feb 2014

A British developer is targeting Thai property buyers and investors for its latest project in the centre of London.

Land Securities has seen growing interest from Thais in its overseas property investments over the last few years, and Tom Eshelby, Residential Director, unveiled its latest development in Bangkok yesterday.

Nova will provide 170 luxury apartments and 35 individual homes in the Victoria area of the U.K. capital. The project has already attracted a number of buyers from Southeast Asia, and the developer will be working with both Savills and Knight Frank in Thailand to attract Thai buyers.

The developer noted that Thai buyers have been ‘off the radar’ for many U.K. developers until the last three or four years. It added that Thai visitors to London have increased significantly with shops like Harrods hiring Thai-speaking staff to take care of its customers.

It also announced plans for a Thai-focused event in London during April to promote the project.

Recent research from Knight Frank revealed that buyers from the region accounted for 67 percent of new-build units sold at prices below £2 million in London.

Yesterday DDproperty.com reported how one U.K. developer’s overseas property exhibition in Bangkok last weekend drew strong interest from Thai buyers.
