More than 400 nominations were received when the first stage of the 10th annual Thailand Property Awards 2015 closed last week.

The event is the ‘Oscars’ of Thailand’s real estate and property industry, where the finest developments in the Kingdom battle to collect awards as best in the Kingdom.

Terry Blackburn, Chief Executive Officer of organisers Ensign Media, told DDproperty.com: “Key categories of note this year are Best Villa Phuket, Best Affordable Condo Bangkok and Best Residential Development Chiang Mai, all of which have both struggled in previous years but have made a strong showing this year.

“Clearly, some key developments at the ultra-high end in Phuket are nearing completion and “Affordable” is an ever important market segment in Bangkok as developers look to balance their portfolios.

Blackburn added that the Thailand Property Awards has been a strong supporter of Chiang Mai since it launched the category four years ago.

“Despite some strong winners, we struggled to get a wide range of quality entrants there. That looks set to change this year with multiple entries received already from both big name national developers and local players, which is great news for Thailand’s second city.

“We hope day to see Chiang Mai competing across the same number of categories as Bangkok,” he concluded.

The Thailand Property Awards does not release exact entry statistics or disclose developer names before the official shortlist is released on August 3rd for confidentiality reasons.

The awards are free to enter and decided by a truly independent panel, which ensures only the best of the best are recognised and rewarded.

This year’s winners will be revealed at a Black Tie Gala Dinner at Bangkok’s Plaza Athenee hotel on Wednesday, September 16, tickets for which are on sale now and limited in number.
