The shortlist of the South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016

The official list of nominees for the third annual South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016 was released with several of the country’s most recognizable developers vying for honors this year.

Genting Property was one of the most impressive performers this time around picking up four nominations for its residential developments. In an interesting twist, two of them, The Raintree and The Crystal, will be competing against each other for the Best Housing Development (South Malaysia) award.

There was also good news for Sime Darby Property Berhad, United Malayan Land Berhad (UMLand), and Pacific Star Group with each developer garnering three nominations apiece for their mid-range and luxury condominium projects. Sime Darby and UMLand are no strangers to the South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) as both finished as highly commended for the Best Developer award last year. This year, both are on the shortlist for Special Recognition in Sustainable Development, a new category for 2016.

The chairman of this year’s central panel of judges is Prem Kumar, executive director of Jones Lang Wootton, He pointed out that the Malaysian real estate sector is well known for its resiliency and believes the temporary market slowdown won’t trouble the sector’s long-term growth. With government policies that have always encouraged growth of the sector, property will continue to be one of the key contributors to the advancement of the Malaysian economy.

“The annual South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) showcases the year’s best properties and investments, which have gone beyond mere financial gains and specific attributes pertinent to the difference and enhancement it has created in the property industry,” Kumar stated.

The panel of judges for this year’s awards is comprised of leading figures in real estate development, management, architecture and design. They have been working together under supervision of BDO to determine the eligibility and quality of each nominee. The annual South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2016 will take place on 11th August at the InterContinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
