Royalty And Other Foreign Dignitaries Set To Attend The Royal Cremation

Several royal families and leading dignitaries from at least 30 countries are scheduled to attend the Royal Cremation Ceremony of His Majesty The King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 26th October, according to local media outlets. The government has yet to confirm the final guest lists and more countries are expected to send representatives to Thailand for the procession.

The Command overseeing the Royal Funeral has begun preparations for the reception of foreign dignitaries. The Thai Foreign Minister did not send invitations to foreign countries and attendance at the Royal Cremation is open to any country who wish to send representatives.

“The government and Royal Household Bureau will give importance to people attending the funeral. For foreign guests, we are ready to welcome them,” says Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai to The Nation.

The list of royal dignitaries who will attend the Royal Cremation include Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema, Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. Prince Akishino, the younger son of Japan’s Emperor Akihito, and his wife, Princess Kiko, will also be at the ceremony.

Singapore President Halimah Yacob is set to attend the Royal Cremation Ceremony of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, according to the county’s Foreign Ministry office. She is expected to visit the Thai capital from 26th October to 27th October. The newly sworn in President will be accompanied by her husband, Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, on the trip as well as officials from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This will be her 1st trip overseas trip as president. She took office in September and is Singapore’s first female President.
