More Proof That Tourists Love Thailand

Tourists love Thailand and that was once again confirmed by the readers of Conde Nast Traveller magazine who voted the Kingdom as the 8th best country in the world. The vote was part of the magazine’s “Best Countries In The World” poll and marks the 5th consecutive year Thailand finished in the top 10.

Italy was voted as the Best Country In The World, a position it has held since 2010. It was followed by Greece, the United States, France, Spain, South Africa, and Australia. India and Canada rounded out the top 10. The magazine conducted the annual survey in February as part of the Readers’ Travel Awards 2017.

Several other places and hotels in Thailand were honoured by the popular magazine. Among the most notable winners was Koh Samui which finished in 5th in the “10 Best Islands” category. Samui finished ahead of Bali, Seychelles, and Malta, but was surpassed in popularity by the Greek Islands and The Maldives among others.

As part of the magazine’s awards, a top 100 list was released which ranked everything from hotels to destinations in one place. Everything was ranked based upon numerous factors. These included criteria such as service, design, culture, and value for money that could help determine the satisfaction of travellers. On the top of the list was a Thailand icon.

The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok finished first in this ranking while The Sarojin Hotel in Khao Lak also cracked the top 20 ending in 18th spot while Koh Samui finished in 19th place. Six Senses Douro Valley Hotel in Portugal was 2nd with the Greek Islands taking 3rd place, and The Oberoi Udaivilas Hotel in India following up in 4th. Other notable places to finish in the top 20 include the Auberge du Soleil Resort in California, The Original FX Mayr Health Center in Austria, and Spain’s Balearic Islands.
