The THB3.5 billion Gaysorn Village has opened its doors and the new mixed-use project at the Ratchaprasong intersection is welcoming its very 1st visitors this week, reports local media. Gaysorn Property Co is behind the development and has transformed Gaysorn Plaza mall into a more modern shopping village.
The project took 2 years to complete and included the development of Gaysorn Tower, a modern office complex. Gaysorn Shopping Centre was the 1st luxury mall in Bangkok when it opened, but its popularity has waned with the opening of other upscale shopping centres in the city.
Gaysorn Village will have several unique features including Lonely Two-Legged Creature, a fashion brand with a stylish bar by Duangrit Bunnagm, and Erb’s spa products largest flagship shop. There will also be several concept dining spaces like Burger & Lobster and French bakery Maison Eric Kayser.
The second phase of the project will begin shortly and will include the renovation and repositioning of Amarin Plaza and Amarin Tower, which is currently across the street from Gaysorn Plaza. This area will become a mall housing big brand shops and various street food outlets. Amarin Tower will be finished in 2018 and Amarin Plaza is set to be completed in 2020.
“Gaysorn Village is about life and style. We are going forward to give experience to customers, preparing ourselves for competition with each shopping district in Bangkok amid consumers’ eagerness for e-commerce,” says Charn Srivikorn, Gaysorn Property Chairman, to the Bangkok Post.
Competition in the retail sector is high with new retail districts in the Samyan and Bang Na areas set to compete with existing ones at the Ratchaprasong intersection, Phrom Phong, and Rama 9 Road. The One Bangkok and a new shopping mall in the Bang Na area are being developed by the Mall Group are just a few of the new projects in the pipeline.
